Terms & Conditions
These terms are the agreement between you and the people who make and run Avaloth (“we”, “us”). They cover the game at avaloth.com, its chat and everything that comes with it. Please read them — they’re written to be read.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or playing Avaloth you agree to these Terms and to the Players United Agreement, which is part of them. If you don’t agree, please don’t play.
2. Who can play
You must be at least 13 years old. If you’re under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you need a parent or guardian’s permission, and they must agree to these terms on your behalf and make any purchases for you.
3. Your account
- Keep your password to yourself; you’re responsible for what happens on your account.
- Give us an email address that works — it’s how you get back in if you’re locked out.
- Your character name must not impersonate anyone, including staff, or break the Players United Agreement. We may change a name that does.
- Accounts are personal. Don’t sell, trade or give yours away.
4. The game changes — and it’s in beta
Avaloth is a living game in closed beta. We regularly add, change, rebalance and remove features, items, places and prices. While the beta lasts we may need to adjust or reset parts of the game — including characters, items and currencies — and we’ll give notice in the game where we reasonably can.
5. Gold, items and wyrdstones
Gold, items, gear, wyrdstones and everything else inside the game are a limited, personal licence to use them in Avaloth. They are not your property, have no value outside the game, and can’t be exchanged for real money. Buying or selling them — or accounts — for real money outside the game is not allowed. We may change, limit or remove them, for example to fix a bug or balance the game.
6. Nothing is for sale
The game is free. There is no subscription, nothing to buy, and no way to pay us for an advantage — not for faster recovery, not for a place on the map, not for gold, gear or wyrdstones. We take no payment details and hold no payment information of any kind. If anyone offers to sell you any of it, they are not us, and open a support ticket.
7. How you play
Play by the Players United Agreement. In particular, you must not cheat, use bots or automation, exploit bugs, use extra accounts to gain an advantage, harass or threaten anyone, or try to break into, overload or disrupt the game or other players’ accounts.
8. Chat and what you write
You keep ownership of what you write in chat, letters, bios and anywhere else in the game. You let us store, show and relay it so the game works — realm chat may be mirrored to Avaloth’s official Discord server, and messages from there may appear in the game. We may moderate or remove anything that breaks these terms, and we don’t endorse what players write.
9. When things go wrong
If you break these terms we may warn you, mute you, remove gold or items gained unfairly, rename your character, or suspend or close your account. We try to be proportionate and fair; if you think we got it wrong, open a support ticket and we’ll look again. You can stop playing whenever you like, and ask us to close your account the same way.
10. Your information
To run the game we keep your email address, the name you play under, what you do in the game, and technical details such as your IP address, which help us keep accounts safe and stop cheating. We use them to run and improve Avaloth and to contact you about your account. We don’t sell your personal information. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, open a support ticket. Our Privacy Policy explains all of this in full.
11. Ours, and yours
Avaloth — its name, world, writing, art, code and everything else in it — is ours. You may share screenshots and talk about the game freely; please don’t copy it or pass it off as your own.
12. No guarantees
We work hard to keep Avaloth running, but it’s provided “as is” and may sometimes be unavailable, slow or wrong. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond what these terms say.
13. Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost in-game items or progress, and our total liability to you for anything to do with Avaloth is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or US $50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do we’ll change the version and date at the top, and tell you in the game if the change matters. If you keep playing after that, you accept the new terms.
15. The law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
